In a world that is filled with a lot of technology, I wanted
to take a step away from it. When my children were younger, my husband and I tried to limit their screen time daily.
As they grew older I found it increasingly difficult to have the right answers. How long is too long in front of the screen? Should I be putting privacy settings on what they were watching? I guess these are questions that most parents ask themselves.
While I wish I had the answers to these questions, sadly I don't. I took control of what I could and used my Education Degree to create something that I felt was not available in the current toy market.
So I decided to design a Journal that I felt would enhance their writing and learning while also igniting their creativity and imagination. I filled the Journal with lots of pre-writing concepts, letter and number recognition and lots of colouring in. My children were learning and
having fun at the same time.
What extension could I use to complement this? Well, Magnetic Games of course! We spent a lot of time in the car and one of our favourite games was Eye Spy. So, I came up with a series of different games to help them to look around their environment, explore, discover and work cooperatively and result in those exciting words at the end, " I did it, I win!"
So there you have it, the beginning of my story. Let's hope this is only the first chapter of many more!
